Southern Skyline 2011

My brother-in-law got a sudden hankering to hit the Skyline, so a couple of us braved it early on a Saturday morning. We just did an out and back and only made it about 9 miles round trip, but the steep grade of the trail makes it feel like a lot more than that. Not to mention we started the ride off going at it like we had a lion on our tails, and had my brother-in-laws friend riding with us who made it look like he was just out for a morning stroll.

This trail has some stiff switchbacks up to the skyline, and even when we had kind of hit the ridge, there is still some brutal climbs and some technical stuff that require good control, balance, and legs that pump like pistons.

This trail has some pretty amazing views of the Valley and Pine View Dam. Through most of the switchbacks there are great views of what is above and below, and once you get to the ridge there are some just incredible views. It was kind of funny because my wife and I had the Sunday School lesson the next day for the Creation of the Earth, and this provided some great visual aids to demonstrate how beautiful God's creations are! One of my favorite parts of the rides is seeing how beautiful this world is that we live in, which I think shows in part God's love for us.
